SOME OF OUR RESCUE CASES ~~
ALL
THE HORSES AND PONIES SHOWN BELOW WENT ON TO MAKE FULL RECOVERIES |
| From
Left to Right:
LOU LOU -
found collapsed in a field having delivered still born twin foals.
Lou had a retained placenta and came very close to
death.
ARCHIE -
found in Kent area as a six month old foal. Suffering from
malnutrition and pneumonia.
ROCKY - a
three year old stallion, Rocky suffered a severe sheath injury which his
owner left untreated. Once in our care, he was immediate hospitalised
for intensive treatment. |

| BEN
- orphaned at birth and hand reared by our team.
COCO -
imprisoned in a stable by his ex-owner for over three years.
HENRY -
sold as a rideable horse by a local dealer, despite having severe
stringhalt and being very unsteady on his back legs. |

| BOBBY
- cruelly tethered by his head collar as a foal, which ended up
embedded in his face.
DINO -
underweight and neglected.
INDIE -
underweight, wormy and suffering with pneumonia, this filly took us
nearly nine months to get back to health. |

| BRUNO
- found running loose on the A127 - wormy and underweight. No
one ever claimed him.
DAN -
abandoned on a livery yard by his ex-owner - the livery yard owner
was going to have him shot.
CITY JIVA -
abandoned by her ex-owner on a yard because she had lost her use as a
riding horse. |

| FREYA
- found running loose in a Country Park - undernourished, nervous,
wormy and covered in lice.
HARLEY -
orphaned at two weeks old. His mum (we discovered) died a long, slow
and agonising death from toxic laminitis.
JESSICA -
abandoned in someone's front garden with a sarcoid on her stomach. |

| LANCELOT
- completely neglected by his young owner - malnourished and covered
in lice.
LILY - born
with bent front legs - our vets successfully operated on Lily.
MINNIE - an
elderly pony - abandoned by her ex-owner at the local tip. |

| VULKAN
- abandoned by his owner and left to starve.
MATINEE -
this two year old was knocked unconscious by his ex-owner.
ROMEO -
abandoned at a livery yard as a yearling, this lad went on to qualify for
the Horse of the Year Show in 2008. |

| NANA
BRACKEN - severely underweight and suffering from a liver infection,
this elderly mare now lives in retirement at our Sanctuary.
ZULI -
having given her ex-owner the best years of her life as a riding horse,
she was left to starve in a field once she had served her purpose.
RUDI -
spent the first year of his life locked up in a horse trailer with no
company or turn out. |

| WIZARD
- his owner left him for over a week without water in the blazing
summer of 2007.
MIA - this
filly was so weak when she came into our care that one of our staff had to
carry her off the horse trailer.
PICKLE -
heavily in foal and in poor condition, this mare was picked up by us from
the A127 on no less than three occasions in a week. |

| SCOOBY
DOO - found running loose in Wennington area in neglected condition.
ROSE RED -
her owner let this mare's feet overgrow so that she could barely
walk. Rose was also very underweight - all she needed was dental
treatment to allow her to chew properly.
OLIVER -
tied to a school railing by a skipping rope in the blazing sun as a
yearling. In bad condition and with one of the heaviest worm burdens
we have ever come across. |

| PUMPKIN
- left for days without water by her owner. Pumpkin came into us
along with 3 other ponies belonging to the same person. All were
badly malnourished and dehydrated.
PABLO -
abandoned in a local paddock. Pablo, a frisky 7 year old stallion at
the time, tried to play with the mare in the paddock who was recovering
from a tendon operation and was on restricted exercise/turnout at the
time. No owner ever came forward.
RUBY -
re-homed by an (unregistered) "charity" to an elderly gentleman
for his grand-daughter to ride. What the "charity" hadn't
told the man was that Ruby was semi-wild and scared to death of
people. Ruby has now been in our care for over 10 years and is STILL
not suitable for rehoming. We doubt she ever will be unless it is to
someone extremely experienced and patient. |
